January 2016

2016 - and what better way to start the year than dinner and a few drinks with the neighbours. A good time was had by all and whilst we didn't have the camera out for most of the evening, we did get a few snaps of the clip-on alternative chins that caused much amusement...
Here's Chris and Paul...

... and Vicci with Paul.

Shortly into the New Year, we had some visitors from New Zealand. Old friends of Megan's, Mike and Jenni with their two children. We tried our best to get them out and about to some local points of interest, including Winchester Cathedral, Windsor Castle, Portsmouth Harbour and the Spinnaker Tower before finally dropping them at Hampton Court Palace where they continued their journey on into Central London. Whilst we were in Portsmouth, we visited Fort Nelson, one of the three Royal Armouries which is where these photos were taken.

And that's about it, until right at the end of the month. Following a term-and-a-bit of learning about the Greeks, Matthew's school held its annual Greek Day in which everyone goes dressed up - usually as a great thinker like Plato with his flowing white robes. Matthew had other ideas this year and inspired by the myths and legends opted to be a minotaur for the day.

And that brings us all the way to Matthew's birthday. A good family-based start to the day with Chris's folks and Megan's Mum joining for presents...

... and then a few of Matthew's friends joined us for a play-date and lunch.

After lunch, we took the kids Ice Skating in Guildford. Cassandra and Matthew are reasonably stable now - no tricks or anything silly like skating backwards - but competent enough to really enjoy themselves. For some of Matthew's friends, this was a first visit so there was lots of gripping the side wall and still slipping over. Ah well, at least we got smiles out of everyone...

In the evening, we reverted back to the family group and took a drive out to the Harvester at Puttenham which was very pleasant.
