February 2012

Something must be wrong with us. Another month with hardly any photos taken. Must do better.
Anyway, here's a few to keep us going until March ...

Actually, let's start with a video. Here's Matthew's school assembly. There are some small kids in his class but its clear that he's a bit taller than average ... he's already taller than his sister. It took Chris until he was about ten to achieve that.

Matthew Assembly

Matthew is continuing his school project looking at sites of interest around Aldershot. On a rather cold weekend we headed over to the Garrison Church of All Saints for a look around, including a walk up to the nearby Wellington Statue. Both of these sites feature items that were moved from their original locations. The statue was originally erected at Hyde Park Corner in London and moved to Aldershot in 1885....

... and in the entrance to the church is a large wooden cross which had originally been erected at a site known as High Wood near Bazentin in France by Royal Engineers to the memory of officers and men killed in the Somme. It was found amongst ruins in 1927 and moved to Aldershot, finally finding its present home in 1939.

There was snow later that day - but it didn't last. A very mild Winter this year - a disappointing lack of school closures and the consequential inability to get into work.

Matthew finally got round to spending some of his Christmas and Birthday money (and pocket money and his share in the proceeds of a recent Car Boot Sale). Surprise, surprise ... it was more Lego - but not just any lego, the Mindstorms Robotic Invention Kit.

Here's a couple of the models he's made so far. These ones were following instructions ... the interesting bit will come when he creates his own ...

Mindstorms - Alpha Rex

Mindstorms - Colour Sorter

We'll finish off this month with another set of Cassandra's experimental hairstyles. She's willing her hair to grow longer quicker so that they can get even more elaborate...

Maybe next month, we'll get a photo with her face in it....
